What vegetarian food can replace the vitamins from Tuna, Salmon and Sardines?

Iam not vegetarian.
Whys it wrong to eat fish?
I dont think its wrong to catch fish because other animals hunt animals.

What can replace 'vitamins'? flax

Why is it wrong? Because we overfish the oceans to the point that dozens of species are now bordering on extinct. Fish species along with sea birds and sea life. Yellow Fin & Big Eyed Tuna will be extinct in 3-5 years beacuse of overfishing.

Because we value the death of the fish over the life of other sea animals. Millions of seabirds are killed in fishing gear each year. Thousands of turtles, dolphins, sea lions, manatees, seals, otters, and whales are also killed by fishing gear. By eating fish, you say all this waste of life is ok. In Oregon, they've started SHOOTING sea lions who eat Salmon in the Columbia. Why? Because they are taking fish away from fishermen. They want to kill the sea lions to save the fish so that they can kill them. Makes perfect sense, right?

You don't think it's wrong because other animal hunt? Other animal live outside 100% of the time. Are you planning on doing this?
They catch only what they eat. They do not kill for fun and do not have millions of tons of 'bycatch' and wasted unwanted animals. Their fishing technique is not responsible for the deaths of millions

You don't need fish to survive. Therefore, you kill them, and all the other sea animals, for fun. Digsuting.

    i) Flaxseed oil

    ii) Because fish have feelings

Do you take all your moral cues from animals? Sometimes they eat their babies, you going to do that too?

I don't know about food but you can take fish oil supplements, that's what I do because I don't eat a lot of seafood. I don't think it's wrong to catch fish if you are eating the fish. It's nature, the food chain. It's wrong to kill for a sport in my opinion but eating is ok.

Fresh sardines are the healthiest food you can eat. Any fish is excellent. I don't know a replacement to equal sardines.

Other animals also pro-create with their siblings.

Do we need to warn your sister, or are you being selective in your animal / human comparisons today ?

When did you last see a tuna….
cage animals for life in order to rear it for food
ship live animals half way across the country in crates
selectively breed animals to produce freaks of nature
feed animals made with protiens from there own species
inject animals with hormones, antibiotics and other vacinations

And since when did the vast majority of people hunt in a fair one-on-one manner. I suppose you could call walking down the aisle and picking up a vacuum packed piece of fish as "hunting", but its a bit of a stretch.

Most animals live on instinct, their thought processes do not allow them to make comlpex judgements. Humans do have the abiltiy to make decisions based on impact, judgement, compassion and an understanding of the greater good. Its a shame we use that ability to think of ever more creative ways to exploit animals.

Well, at least some of us have those abilties, some of us apparently prefer to adopt the behavioural standards of wild fish

The first girl is right in that flax seed products of any kind are richer in Omega's, like flax oil, I use it in smoothies and my cold food, it does lend itself to hot foods, I buy flax seed meal and whole flax seeds, I use them in my oatmeal, when I make my homemade granola, but green vegetables to have a trace amount of omega, so do dried beans and lentils. Carrots too, you can get soya beverages with add Omega fatty acids. Flax seed breads and other baked good, you can add the seeds and meal to mixes of cakes and muffins, dried fruits make them more palatable, and if you can find hemp seeds they help boost the properties also.

    Why is it wrong?
Because we don't need to eat them to survive, they're actually detrimental to health.
We don't hunt them, we catch them, it's crude and wrong.

Tuna contains tryptophan, selenium, protein, b-3, b-6 and b-1. It is usually contaminated with mercury.
Salmon contains protein and omega 3 fatty acids.
Sardines contain b-12, tryptophan, selenium, vitamin d, protein, and omega 3 fatty acids. They are usually contaminated with mercury.

Tryptophan is found in flax seeds, nuts, lentils, and beans.
Selenium is found in nuts and grains.
B-3 (niacin) is found in nuts, seeds, beets and brewer's yeast
B-6 is found in nuts, seeds, grains, greens, and root vegetables.
B-1 (thiamine) is found in whole grains, nuts, sunflower seeds, peas, milk, cauliflower, spinach and legumes.
B-12 is found in nutritional yeast, eggs, dairy products and organic produce.
Protein is found in beans, nuts, seeds, grains, greens, vegetables, etc.
Omega 3 fatty acids are found in flax seeds and walnuts.

One reason to quit eating fish is that the second largest seafood exporter is now China, and those fish are often found to be tainted with pesticides, drugs, and carcinogenic chemicals, in addition to high levels of mercury.

If you don't think its wrong to eat fish then continue eating it. I suggest getting the locally farmed fish though. It does not contain all the Mercury.

You can get omega 3 from oils and flax seeds if you do not eat fish, but its not complete. Flax seeds only contain ala not epa and dha like fish oil or seafood. The ala in flax can be coverted by the body to dha, but its only at a rate of half of 1%.
