How to make Lentil Walnut Veggie Burgers Video. Veggie Burgers are a nutritional alternative to beef burgers. Many people don’t think of making their own veggie burgers but they are really easy to make at home. Store bought veggie burgers are nutritional but often very high in sodium and preservatives. You can substitute the eggs in this recipe with “flax eggs” which are a mix of 6 tbsp ground flax to 2 tbsp boiling water. The milk in this recipe can be substituted with either soya milk or rice milk. This makes the recipe completely vegan!
Lentils are high in fiber which makes them a good protector against bowel cancer. I recommend organic, low sodium lentils if you are buying canned. They are an excellent source of protein and are an important source of B vitamins, especially B3, which is essential for both a healthy nervous system and digestive system. They are high in iron, zinc and calcium and are a good replacement for red meat. Like meat, the iron in lentils is better absorbed when they are eaten with a good source of vitamin C like leafy green vegetables.
Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that the body cannot produce.
(Re omega 3 see also http://flaxseeds.blogspot.com )
Walnuts are also a very good source of monounsaturated fats.
Walnuts contain many powerful antioxidants, including ellagic and gallic acids, pus antioxidant phenols and vitamin E. The minerals copper and manganese are also found in abundance in these tasty nuts.

    vegetarian and …
    vegetarian and vegan should be considered the same thing. Wheat germ is not necessary either, most people consume WAY too much protein than the body requires. You can get all the protein you need through fruits, grains, and vegetables. Leave the animal products behind.

    eggs are a …
    eggs are a chicken’s period and have no place in a vegetarian’s diet regardless of what some liars may say.The fluid within an egg is designed by nature to provide a baby chick embryo with all the nutrition it needs to hatch and has no place in a vegetarian’s mouth.

    These are veggie burgers and eggs, milk, cheese are lacto-veggie. Also, eggs are not aborted chickens. In order to be chickens the eggs would have to be fertilized. These look absolutely wonderful and I will be making them this afternoon. Thanks for the recipe.

    Oh really? This ALWAYS happens? I had no idea! lol

    Actually, this is not true. I’ve met so many people that think it’s cool when you tell them you are into veganism and vegetarianism. These people are fun, interesting smart, and loyal. Sorry, maybe you are just meeting really stupid people. I feel sorry for you.

    Not all vegetarians …
    Not all vegetarians are vegetarians because they care about animals/animal rights and not killing them. So many vegetarians will be ok with this recipe. Just keep it in mind. Although personally I do wish there was something other than eggs in this myself. What would be another good binding agent? I wonder if the flax egg method would work here.

    Egges makes it a …
    Egges makes it a semi- vegetarian dish. Eating eggs or fish does means that you are not really a vegetarian because they are both animals. An egg is basically an aborted chicken.

    Yes, it is a Vegetarian (Veggie) Burger. A Vegan Burger would not have the egg & cheese.

    1) search “”meet your meat”"

    2) search “”indian food”" and then you will understand why we don’t eat animals and why i avoid pig/chicken/cow (compassion) and why i eat india and ethnic vegetarian food, i love it, its delicious and better than a nasty bloody and fatty burger that will kill you

    no …
    @Snickerdoodl

    no man, its because of the fact that we are humans we should use our intelligence to recognize the pain of others, animals do not know right from wrong, i do. Besides i am a Christian and i can not ask God for compassion towards me if i don’t give the same to other God’s creatures, that is just my believe.

    How can people eat vegtables 24/7, I just cant! I NEED MEAT!

    Im just saying, were humans, we big and strong, we on the top of the food chain. We dont care if you torture a pig or a chicken or something along the lines of that, its all for food, all for survival. Just saying. Dont get angry at me.

    Thanks for this …
    Thanks for this recipe. My husband just loved them.

    I think my canned (and drained) lentils were too wet because in the end the mix was very soupy. I even tried using 1/3 of the milk, double the wheat germ, and an extra egg to try to make it bind. Ended up having to reduce the mix on the stove to make it thicker. That worked very well.

    Will try getting as much liquid off the lentils before I start next time.

    Again, really nummy burgers. As a condiment freak, I even enjoyed them plain.

    the only …

    @toxing14
    the only difference is that the law does not provide protection to farm animals but it is still torture and cruelty. Maybe if you are raised in a small cage, and then have your throat slit while being hanged upside down from a hook, bleeding and still concious, you would understand that that is painful. Slavery was at one point legal too and many people like you stated the same argument you are stating at this point. I can tell you that the fact that is legal does not make it right

  20. latinforever1 says:

    @toxin14
    you are …

    @toxin14
    you are just an uncaring person trying to justify yourself. Eating meat is unacceptable and unjustifiable these days knowing the way animals are raised and killed in the most evil ways. If you don’t care then life will teach you someway or another, let the rest of us intelligent individual consume vegetables and avoid animal cruelty. If what this meat industry do to animals is done to a dog and/or cat or a person, it will be called animal cruelty and torture, there isn’t any difference.

    how can …

    @toxin014
    how can you compare a plant and an animal? plants do not feel pain, they lack brains and nervous system. Vegans are compassionate as they do not turn the blind eye of the cries of horrors of slaughterhouses and factory farms. Nobody value life as intelligence, you are so wrong. Pain is extremely important because we have a brain and a heart and intelligent individual who can understand animals feel pain and i would not like anyone to do kill and eat my dog, same with a cow or chicken

    well, …

    @treeman2007
    well, i think you are living in a dream and you are not in touch with reality. Slaughterhouses are very cruel and evil and cows are raised in factory farms. I definetely see the difference between an egg and a cow, i respect life and a cow is a grown animal just like us very capable of feeling pains and emotions. Eggs is very different, they do not have a brain.

    bye

    @ latinforever1

    so …
    @ latinforever1

    so your saying if there’s no pain it’s ok? then why not shoot it in the head… no pain there!! some american slaughterhouses use a shock gun to paralyze the cows brains so it won’t feel no pain..same !!

  24. treeman2007 says:

  25. toxin014 says:

    eggs are no …
    eggs are no differnt than molecules they are both alive. just as plants. vegans hold only animali one of the several kingdoms of life important. most likely be cause of thier cute physical appearance. wheater they can think or not intelligence is an immoral basis to value lives upon, as is pain. meat is justifiable therfore vegan views are strewed by a false sense of compassion instead of logic and reasoning.
