just out of curiousity… what ingredient on this recipe makes it “vegetarian” rather than “vegan“… just wondering
You can extract …
You can extract vital wheat gluten from regular whole wheat flour by adding water to the whole wheat flour and then kneading it under water, The water soluable starch will wash away leaving th insoluable gluten . . . but its a mess, If you can get the gluten flour in the store it is much easier.
Unfortunately, this …
Unfortunately, this recipe needs the vital wheat gluten.
could you just use …
could you just use ordinary fliur, or self raising flour instead of the gluten one.

GORGEOUS girl, just falling in love ^.^’ but I’m sure she’s got already a two metre tall, mountain-of-muscle kind of a husband who would instantly Multimix my face if I only tried to talk to her. I must live with that, I guess T_T
Ah, yes, the sausage: what makes this seitan sausage “Italian” afterall? I’m Italian and I’ve never seen anything like such a peculiar combination of flavours; and all that garlic… EEEEEK! Not even a century ago did our peasants use so much of it!
I fully understood …
I fully understood your point, it was just made extremely poorly.
Your consistent and irrelevant rambling and the unfortunate preachy tone to your comments is a further sign of you inability to form a valid discussion on the original point – why make something taste like chicken?
I am, as an ethically minded meat consumer, more than aware of the environmental impact of raising animals. I’ll walk to work tomorrow so I can have a steak for dinner, possibly imported from Brazil. yum yum.
Oh, I forgot to …
Oh, I forgot to mention: Growing animals for food is also economic and environmental fiasco. The animals are fed feed that contains grain and pulses that humans could very well directly eat. I bet you know this already that more energy is put in than what we get out of the animals. At least in EU, the farms recieve insane subsidies and in here producing one kilo of pork and selling it with regular consumer prices would actually make the farmer loose 5€/kg without the EU subsidies.
It was a bad joke …
It was a bad joke rather than an argument. Seems like you didn’t catch my point at all.
The main problem …
The main problem with your argument is a basic lack of understanding. Your pathetic comparison to eating human babies is ridiculous, you clearly have no real comparison to make so had to resort to being childish. If you want to resort to the absurd, humans could not be consumed due to the extensive time it would take to rear them, the volume of food it would take to feed would not make them economically worthwhile and consumption would encourage the spread of disease (as in mad cow disease).
Because I’m not …
Because I’m not that selfish. Just like I wrote in my previous post: me and many other vegetarians don’t eat meat because of ethical issues. Heck, I bet human babies would taste awesome, but killing someone just because you like the taste… well, there really isn’t anything you can justify it. That’s 100% selfish.
I didn’t say it was …
I didn’t say it was ‘weird’ it’s more contradictory. If you love the taste and texture of meat so much then why don’t you just eat meat, instead of fabricating a poor substitute?
looks great ty for …
looks great ty for another idea, saves money on store brands bet it taste sooo good, can’t wait to try it kareblue ;o)
Majority are not …
Majority are not vegetarian because they hate the taste of meat. It’s the ethical issues, and some, including me, absolutely loved the taste and texture of meat. Therefore it’s refreshing to eat something different once in a while and I really enjoy eating “fake meats”. What’s so weird about it?
