Where can I buy a vegan puff pastry dough? Or, if need be, how do I make it without eggs or butter?

I would prefer to buy it pre-made. If I have to make it, I want the dough to come out the same way as the regular puff pastry dough, without the egg or butter ingredients, so I need to know what substitutes would work as well. I have checked the Trader Joe’s website, but didn’t find it. Are there other vegan stores around the Detroit Metropolitan area that I can call?

I think you are talking about fillo dough.
I just bought some — whole grain too. It’s all vegan as far as I know. Got it at the local health food store.
And you don’t put butter on it anyway, you use oil.
Extra virgin olive oil. It’s all about layering and oil.

I am a former chef and now a vegetarian and most common puff pastry is not made with egg nor is it animal fat or butter.

Frozen is made with a veg based special shortening and is available in most grocry stores frozen section around the pie crusts, filo or tart shells, in the trade we used a small amount of butter for flavour, but for the flakiness the shorteneing was used, it is better and more predictable. I would check the labels, and for the Metro Detriot area a trip to Canada and to a grocery store in Windsor they have it in the same area as your local stores, it is not expensive around $3.00 for a package and it is around 500 grams or 1 american pound in weight.

Crisco is vegan, but it is not healthy and frankly, a bit gross. But you can substitute it for butter. I’m sorry, there aren’t any doable substitutes for egg that are easily obtainable (unless you can get your hands on agar or guar gum) but it won:t be puffy>>
