“A Little bit about being a Vegan” by Kevin P. Harloff

**Remember to eat well-balanced meals from the whole spectrum of colors of veggies, fruits, nuts, legumes, soy products, wheat and whole grains, and other non-animal sources if you are a Vegan or Vegetarian, as well as take a good mulitvitamin. Diet and nutrition take research, time, and energy.

***Again I am not a Doctor, a Registered Dietitian, nor a Licensed Nutritionist, I do not have the accredition to be a food mentor–I am just an individual explaining my experience with Veganism, my diet, and exercise.

Definition of Vegan:
“[T]he word “veganism” denotes a philosophy and way of living which seeks to exclude — as far as is possible and practical — all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for food, clothing or any other purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment. In dietary terms it denotes the practice of dispensing with all products derived wholly or partly from animals.” (from the Vegan Society–I don’t know who this society is, but this is what wikipedia gave me.) My definition of Vegan: Someone who does not exploit, kill, harm, eat, or use animals for their own life or personal gain–one who does not eat any animal products including meat, eggs, poulty, fish, diary, honey (if you have a question about this one–google honeybees and understand why honeybees are so important and the danger we are having with their existence here in America right now), or anything else that is, was, or comes from an animal.
Here is my long overdue video about my experience as a Vegan thus far–it’s been almost three years now. I had promised myself and others that I would make a Vegan video so here it is.
The supplements that are in this video, the protein shakes and such, are for my bodybuilding. A person who is not into weightlifting or growing muscles does not need to take these supplements–they can eat soy products or complement their meals to get the correct amount of amino acids, or protein(s) needed.
I want to make it clear I chose not to eat animals because I believe it is ethically incompatible with my philosophy of living; I do not eat animals because it is undeniably terrible the way animals are treated and slaughtered; I do not eat animals because I like animals and I don’t want to ingest them; and I don’t eat animals because I believe a plant based diet is the healthiest for the human being.
If you have any questions on being a Vegan, Veganism, Vegetarianism, life, music, or anything else feel free to leave a comment or message me.

There are many if not a lot of ways of getting my Vitamin D. Soy Milk, such as Silk, is fortified with Vitamin D for example. A lot of foods are fortified with the Vitamin (as said in the video always read labels)– as well as my multivitamin. And by the way you only need to stand in the sun for 15 minutes to get you Vitamin D3.

“Seguirá Habiendo el Amor Siempre en mi Corazón” Vid. Beautiful!!!
It looks like you leaned out a LOT in the last year. Keep it up and congratulations on your first performance in NYC! :-)

Thank you :) In reply to your question one of my friends cannot eat wheat gluten products–it is just about research, taste, diet, and what is your love for food. I have grown to like tofu–so I must retract my statement in this video. Go to the American Dietetic ociation’s website for help on this. I love how you got my eyebrows–I am German, Yugoslavian, and Italian. And thank you for your compliments :)

  12. kpharloff says:

    Where are u getting …
Where are u getting ur info? I follow science based research, not googling spinach or invalid sites. As a member of the American Dietetic ociation they have great resources on finding out such information. The iron in spinach is molecularly different from that of meat, but still it is a great source, when taking with Vitamin C is absorbed quite well. As my last video showed I am now 3 and 1/2 years into Veganism, my iron is quite fine as well as my other Vitamins, Minerals, and Nutrients.

  13. kpharloff says:

    According to the …
According to the United States Department of Agriculture, a 180 gram serving of boiled spinach contains 6.43 mg of iron, whereas one 6 oz. (170 gram) ground hamburger patty contains at most 4.42 mg. Thus spinach does contain a relatively high level of iron, compared to other vegetable and meat sources,

Yes, Red Bull is vegan. It says so on their website.

  15. greatbeyond801 says:

That’s a misconception. Spinach doesn’t actually have an abundance of iron. Go vegan!

  16. Glasya666 says:

    Good video. You …
Good video. You have to be careful about relying on spinach for iron. It has a lot of iron but it is not absorbed well. It also contains oxalic acid which inhibits iron absorption.

I’ve been a vegan all my life and i’ve never really thought about my diet in anyway its just what i eat. And i’ve been body sculpting since i was 14 years old and i usually just drink loads of soya milk and raw vegetables before and after a training session.

  21. hipretty says:

    Your so cute! “I’m …
Your so cute! “I’m a lovely healthy man!!!” Hahaha! Yes you are!

I love Your Russian / Italian eyebrows. That being said. How would you eat as a Vegan if you could not eat most whole grains? You say you dislike tofu, does that mean you eat other veggie meat analogs? Those also have wheat Gluten in them. Just curious how you would stay Vegan if your WW Breads, Whole Grain Pastas & Veggie (gluten) Meats were suddenly not an option. Struggling with this! Thanks for posting.

  22. kpharloff says:

    Thanks for the …
Thanks for the comment. 20 Years! Congrats. If you have a Vegan shop (NYC has a good amount) you can find good sneakers there, thats if its a good Vegan shop. Or you can always go online–I like New Balance Vegan shoes. A bit expensive but New Balance is a great sneaker.

Yeah Ive learned to like it :) Thanks for the comment.

  24. kpharloff says:

    “I believe it is …
“I believe it is everybodys own choice ultimately. “As a Libertarian I agree. Let me address your other statements. By asking the first one, you debase the human species from our evolutionary state- higher consciousness, awareness, and a part of the brain called the neo-cortex. We have ethics, we make choices, we are intellectual beings. Are mouths are designed to grind, not rip and tear. Our body, such as our digestive system is quite complex and has evolved to breakdown a lot of things.

  25. kpharloff says:

    This question is …
This question is asked I think three times here in these posts. If you go to the rebull website you will see it is one hundred percent suitable for vegans–everything they use in it is synthetic. Scroll the the comments and you’ll see.
    I appreciate the comment :)
