I feed my dog raw food, and the one he is eating right now doesn’t have the veggies mixed into it like some brands, like urban carnivore. I want to give him fresh veggies with his meal but not sure much to give him. Hes a 17lb French Bulldog X Boston Terrier and he is 11 months old.He eats a half pound patty a day.
Yes they do need Veggies!
No they don’t!!
While a dog may enjoy the odd carrot or piece or fruit, they have no nutritional need for them. They have no molars for grinding, amylase in their saliva or fermentation bacteria in their intestines – all proof that dogs do not need vegetables or have the ability to properly digest them.

Dogs don’t need veggies.
Dogs are carnivores. Carnivores need MEAT and BONE.
Fruits and veggies have to be pulped to mush before fed to a dog because they lack the enzyme amylase in their saliva to start the breaking down of the cellulose that makes up veggie cells AND their digestive tracts are completely unsuited to making and real use of plant material.
But you really feel your dog needs it? Order the tripe patties from Urban carnivore. What little plant material that is left in the stomach even after being clean is about ALL the vegetation your dog will ever need.

Well, you’re welcome to give your dog all the veggies you want. Unfortunately, they aren’t doing your dog a bit of good unless they are ground to the consistency of baby food. Even then, they are totally unnecessary. Dog’s digestive systems cannot break down the cells in veggies to even make use of most of the nutrients.
If you’re giving your dog veggies, it is primarily for fiber content – which translates to a waste of time and money.
Also, if you are feeding him some kind of pre-made raw diet, it probably already has some ground veggie in it and makes your suggestion even MORE unnecessary.
Please, do tell, what is the source of information that tells you dogs need veggies?

Actually, dogs can survive on meatless diets, so they are technically "omnivores"
You can ground up some green leafie veggies but they should make up no more than 20% of his raw feed. If he eats a 1/2 lb patty a day, add in 2-3 tbsp of ground veggie.
Hope this helps.
