I was JUST WONDERING. How do their jaw muscles get used to the new raw food, since the other dog foods don’t help with building jaw muscles in a dog.
I assume they would be fine with it. I have always fed my dog dog food and one day he decided to steal all of the raw hamburger meat from the counter and eat it. He was fine. I think it is just natural for dogs to eat raw meat.

I recently switched my dog to a raw diet and he doesn’t have any problems with eating the food. He will be 6 in a few weeks and he had eaten dry dog food before. I guess they just get used to eating the raw food and its no big deal to chew.

Cut it up. There’s a book on preparing your dog homemade food that you don’t have to "spend all day on". I saw it in the library, but I can’t name it for you. Commercial dog food isn’t good. That was just pressed on people in the 40′s. "It’s sooo much better to have all your dog food already made! And it’s got vitamins in there!" But dogs’ teeth and breath will be better after eating real food for less than two weeks. I’ve heard you can get meat leftovers from a butcher.

My dog got used to it. He was a little unsure at first, but now he looks forward to his raw meal every nite.

I switched my dogs to raw "cold turkey" as well. They did just fine. It is just like any other muscle building, dogs will take it slow at first. That is one of the reasons you should feed only chicken the first two weeks. Chicken bones are especially soft and pliable. This will help the dog condition their jaw muscles before starting on anything major.
