I typically only hear the lacto ovo lingo when someone who eats chicken or fish wants to talk about how vegetarian they are. I think it's redundant in the textbook definition of vegetarian.. But can be used to contrast between vegan and vegetarian. I understand the importance.. Some say milk and eggs are more cruel than meat. I keep it simple. There's already a lot of confusion even with the 2 veg*n labels. I stopped going with a label awhile ago, unless I really need it.. Now I just tell ppl I don't feel like eating meat. And ovo-lacto or lacto ovo is not a redundant statement. Most vegetarians that I know do not eat dairy. I don't drink milk but could if I wanted to, it's just that the government allows milk to come from diseased cows.
