Do The Foods You Eat Cause Chronic Inflammation?

Without even knowing it, you’re quite likely eating a lot of inflammatory causing foods. Many of the foods available today cause chronic inflammation.

What’s The Problem With Chronic Inflammation?

Any kind of chronic condition is obviously not a good thing, and chronic inflammation is an often overlooked problem. Studies show that chronic inflammation is a causative factor in many diseases. One of the things caused by chronic inflammation is heart disease. Other medical conditions caused by chronic inflammation include:

  • diabetes
  • metabolic syndrome
  • chronic fatigue syndrome
  • colitis
  • pancreatitis
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • arthritis

The incidence of many of these diseases is on the rise, so chronic inflammation is obviously a problem to be reckoned with. We need to learn how to eliminate it.

It takes on a greater significance when we consider that in spite of so many medical advances, we’re raising a generation that can NOT expect to live longer than their parents. Unfortunately the miracles of modern medicine are offset by the mess of the modern diet.

Inflammatory Foods Are Wrecking Our Health

Many of the foods in today’s diet are new, foods not eaten previously by man. They weren’t foods our ancestors ate, and our bodies are no equipped to handle them. Some major pro inflammatory foods include sugar, refined flours, soft drinks and trans fats.

Just think about that list. Really think about it – how many boxed or canned foods in the grocery store contain sugar? And how much flour used in food today is the refined product instead of whole grain flours? Do you realize how many chemicals are in soft drinks? Think about how much sugar is in non-diet drinks.

Then of course there’s the whole problem of trans fats. Unless you’ve been completely oblivious to any health news, you’ve probably heard of trans fats! Found in baked goods, snack foods, fried foods, vegetable shortenings, some margarines, and a whole host of other foods, these chemicals are everywhere.

Go For An Anti Inflammation Diet

A change of diet is one of the best things we can do to help ourselves. We need to switch to an anti inflammation diet and get rid of all the inflammatory foods that are causing so many health problems.

A whole food is a healthy food. Natural foods with minimal processing are less likely to have ingredients that cause problems.

Trans fats should as vegetable shortening should defiintely be eliminated. For instance, cooking with olive oil is a change for the better.

Reducing our intake of sugar is another healthy change for our diet. Read the labels when you’re grocery shopping. Sugar is added to all kinds of foods. It can almost always be found in so-called healthy low-fat foods. To compensate for the loss of flavor when fat is taken out of food, sugar and salt are often added.

Also, if you’re consuming lots of soft drinks, it’s time to change your beverage. Plain water is a great, but teas and juices are pretty good choices also.

Changing to an anti inflammation diet can be done in many ways. It’s a good way to take charge of your health and improve your well-being.
