Welll for my english III class i have to write a paper about a controversial issue and i chos animal rights and how some animal rights are being ignored by animal experimentaion and all that stuff.
What else could i add to my paper that is related to animal rights?
I also want your opion about animal rights….because we need to have differnt sides of the issue so don’t worry weither its a negiive or positive opinon….let your fingers fly!!
Animal "experimentation" is necessary, at least in a medical sense. However, if you’re going to site as a reason for animal rights, then look up the thalidomide children, and I guess you could say that it shows how ineffective animal testing is. HOWEVER, the thalidomide testing was very inaccurate, and the drug was never tested on pregnant mammals, resulting in the horrific birth defects in thalidomide children. If you’re going to be serious about this topic, focus on regulations for animal testing, heavier sentences and fines for animal cruelty, and better treatment of farm animals (no more cramming them into small cages, and crushing their heads with baseball bats, etc.).
What you do you guys think about animal rights?

The idea of abusing animals and animal cruelty is one thing and shouldn’t be punished. But allowing some animal an attorney and teh ability to sue a person is retarded.

You could give examples on how some experiments could be performed on voluntary humans rather than animals.

Anilmals are living creatures that have feelings, – and alot of them feel nothing but pain in their lives.
I think it’s wrong to harm a creature that hasn’t harmed you. (unless for reasons on nessesity like food or if they need to be culled (due to oerpopulation or whatever) but in such situations they should be killed as quickly as posiple with as little pain to the animal posiple. (eg- a shot to the head like in kangaroo culls, not by wonding them and just letting them drown to death like the dolphin culls))

We had a discussion about this in my AP psychology class.
Animals don’t have rights, nor do animals have responsibilities.
People have a responsibility to animals. People also have a responsibility to other people. The not-so-clear line is where these two responsibilities cross. I have no problem with animal testing, as long as it is done in a responsible way and not simply to display harm to the animals.

you can see the intelligence of animals in their response to word learning & body language, i.e. "wanna go outside" & when they hear we humans speak sound themselves with limited vocal chord abilities thus comes the varies sounding so next time you hear a bird/dog/cat/etc. after hearing all we humans puttering around this land couldn’t they be trying to communicate to us?

Megan, we can’t even prevent people from brutalizing each other.
How can we possibly extend rights to animals?
I mean sure, we can proclaim:
"Animals Now Have Rights!",
but those are just WORDS…

Animals have only one right. That is the right to animal welfare. Having said that, they often get either.
Looking from the animals point of view, the only rights they know are their own rights. If they want to exercise those rights they will. Many believe every animal has rights, but occasionally people get hurt and killed by animals because animals know that is their right. As always, there aqre two ways of looking at this.

I think animals have some rights, but less than humans. I have no problem with machine-gunning pigs to give combat surgeons a chance to practice on bullet wounds. I have no problem with cosmetic or medical testing on animals. I’ll even go so far as to support repealing bestiality laws–if you can cut them up and eat them, I don’t see how you can ban raping them. But hurting or killing animals for fun is where I’d draw the line. Dogfighting, general animal cruelty, neglect–all those things you see on Animal Cops should remain illegal. Hunting is a tricky issue. I guess it’s a legitimate sport. I know I like to fish and don’t feel any qualms about carving up a fish when it’s still alive. So I’d keep hunting and fishing legal.

A Holiday Thought…
Aren’t humans amazing Animals? They kill wildlife – birds, deer, all kinds of cats, coyotes, beavers, groundhogs, mice and foxes by the million in order to protect their domestic animals and their feed.
Then they kill domestic animals by the billion and eat them. This in turn kills people by the million, because eating all those animals leads to degenerative – and fatal – - health conditions like heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, and cancer.
So then humans spend billions of dollars torturing and killing millions of more animals to look for cures for these diseases.
Elsewhere, millions of other human beings are being killed by hunger and malnutrition because food they could eat is being used to fatten domestic animals.
Meanwhile, few people recognize the absurdity of humans, who kill so easily and violently, and once a year send out cards praying for “Peace on Earth.”

Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite justification seemed to be on the net the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I certainly get irked while people consider worries that they just don’t know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top and defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will probably be back to get more. Thanks
