What are the animal rights issues in relation to POKEMON?

Are/were there any animal rights issues to do with the POKEMON?

Pokeman is just a cartoon, so there is no animal cruelty in it because it doesn’t actually exist! There can’t be animal rights issues on a cartoon character that is not even real!

    I really dont think so… Why would they need to? They just took particulr animals and modified them to their liking. It’s not like they were killing htem and then moving their parts around were they?
