SHAC City Shakedown: Animal Rights Protest – London, City of London – 27 February 2009

With HLS share price now the lowest it has ever been in four years, the unjust incarceration of SHAC campaigners and the latest images of monkeys being abused inside HLS from the latest expose by ADI, there was no better time to stand up and show the animal abusing money men that HLS are a bad investment and we will carry on the fight to close HLS.

Around 300 people traveled from around the country (and some from around the world!) to gather by the Bank of England, the only bank in the world to give HLS banking facilities at the behest of the Government for a loud and vibrant demonstration against the financial supporters of HLS in the centre of London.

The march aimed to publicly show the financial investors, or even prospective investors, that we wont tolerate puppies being thrown around, monkeys being cut open alive and other innocent animals suffering in silence. Of our anger, passion, focus and determination to carry on the fight despite repressive laws and long jail sentences that some SHAC campaigners have received.

The march started off in front of the Bank of England with 20 or so journalists and photographers who followed the protest march around a circular route of 2 miles around the city’s financial district.

    Education is the …
Education is the most important thing. Everything else improves from there. When people find out that animals are tortured for toiletries, most of them don’t like that and switch. Therefore less animals suffering needlessly. I’d say that’s an improvement in the world. So I appreciate those people making a big stink about it and taking the time out of their day to educate.

For my work I make …
For my work I make music, because I know that’s my best way of making people happy. A lot of my music is about compassion so hopefully I can use my voice to make the world a better place. I know I can’t change everything but I can change a little bit around me. I try to be there for friends, help people in need, I’m not a perfect person but I do care about others which I think is the main thing. I care about myself too, and if we’re going to help others we have to start with ourselves.

  3. Vegannibal says:

    Want to talk about …
Want to talk about taxpayer’s money? How about that the extremely wasteful and inherently inefficient animal agriculture system is subsidized by “our” tax dollars. in any case, there are more important things at stake here than money. Animals are suffering and being tortured. I don’t know what would have to be wrong with someone for them to not care about that.

As for me, I understand that the industry is run on consumer dollars. So I advocate veganism, freedom, and human rights together.

    Nothing… and what …
Nothing… and what are YOU doing to make the world a better place Vegannibal?

I don’t personally think chanting in the street, blocking off traffic, wasting tax payers money due to the police being there etc. is making the world a better place.

  5. Vegannibal says:

    And what are YOU …
And what are YOU doing to make the world a better place, Funkystumpy247?

  6. keeks0895 says:

    at least there …
    at least there getting attention

  7. Funkystumpy247 says:

    NO offence. but you …
NO offence. but you not going achieve anything by standing around chanting in the street…

    Your just causing an annoyance…

  8. betteule says:

    coverchenko you …
coverchenko you really are thick and not listening to anyone here. animals are made different to us, so you will never be able to tell what can be healthy for one species by testing it on another. its all about money, not science. if something is passed safe by animal testing then whoever the first humans are to use it become the real test subjects as no-one will know the results.

  9. PutridFeverrr says:

    Actually, hole. …
Actually, hole. Animals are not ‘twice as sensitive’ to toxins and chemicals. Where the did you get such a stupid fact like that? Did you make that up? The bodies of animals are not designed like us. Certain chemicals can be fatal to animals, but not humans, and vice versa. Animal based research is NOT reliable for that reason. Why continue to inflict pain and suffering on another living being when we will only get unreliable results?

  10. blackmetta says:

    As for the island.. …
As for the island… why the should we go anywhere. This is our planet too and if you dont like us.. then stay away from our videos and forums.. no one is forcing you to be here.. and you’re most certainly not welcome.

  11. blackmetta says:

I think it is you …
I think it is you who needs to open your eyes. The pharmaceutical industry is a massive money making machine. As for those products. you speak about. Every time they add some new chemical to make them more commercially competitive they test.

Who do you think pays those researchers? do you think their bosses are interested in cures or profits?

Go do some research before you come irritate us with your naive arguments.

  12. Ry4n says:

    Not only do animal …
Not only do animal experiments cause terrible suffering to the animals, but also the results they produce are unreliable and misleading, because they apply to animals and not humans. Studies have shown that 92% of drugs passed as safe by animal tests are later discarded as useless or dangerous.

  13. coverchenko says:

    products that have …
products that have already been tested on animals to ensure safety. once they know they are safe after animal testing you dont need to do the tests. if you people want to continue your ignorance than do it but dont try stopping researchers who are developing life saving cures through animal research. why dont you get your own island and live with animals.

  14. blackmetta says:

    There are plenty of …
There are plenty of cosmetic and medical products out there that are not tested on animals. They’re all safe and wont kill you. Animal testing is a money making industry. Its not as altruistic as most people think it is.

  15. Vildahallon says:

    yes, rabbits had it …
yes, rabbits had it in their eyes, Even better aye..

  16. coverchenko says:

    good im glad they …
good im glad they are tested on animals because when i use shampoo i like the feeling of knowing that it wont kill me.

  17. coverchenko says:

    no you are wrong. …
no you are wrong. drugs tested on animals are proven safe for humans because animals are twice as sensitive to toxins and chemicals. it is very easy to see that the drug is harmful when tested on an animal where as the human subject might not show signs for days even weeks.

  18. coverchenko says:

    well no because …
well no because when the cure for aids or cancer comes out millions of human lives will be saved, but i guess they do have to charge something for the miracle cure i mean shipping isnt cheap these days.

  19. AnnonymousXchick says:

    coverchenko
    you are …

    coverchenko
    you are
how can you support this barbaric
    abuse??!!
if you like testing so much why dont you become a labrat and let them torture you and breed you and torture your children and your children’s children!
and its not just rats its dogs and monkeys
why don’t you go commit suicide and burn in you piece of

  20. coverchenko says:

    maybe 500 animals …
maybe 500 animals in a century but not in a day. i have researched this lab and 3-4 animals die a year due to research. these animals are lab rats to that have been bred for this specific purpose. oh and animal testing is absolutely necessary no matter what these bigots tell you. research using animals has saved millions of human lives.

  21. maillevin says:

    Well, if we win …
Well, if we win with the seals then who can stop us to close HLS :)

  22. blackmetta says:

    Yeah but who cares …
Yeah but who cares about that when you can make a ton of money right? The goal of vivisection is profit not science.

  23. Vildahallon says:

    Haha, jeah what if. …
Haha, jeah what if…ok, gimme 1 example of where animals testing has helped at anyway, in curing cancer or produce safe drugs…show me 1…there arent any, wake up

  24. johnallenasdf says:

    I think they should …
I think they should test it on you, diablo196. Then you won’t be quite so quick to open your mouth.

  25. pressgangers says:

so if you was in …
so if you was in a car crash and one of your children needed a new Kidney or blood transfusion or some major Surgery. or if your child grew up at a very young age to contract Cancer , you wouldn’t accept the hospitals help knowing full well that the treatment or things you need have been tested on animals you mention humans over animals lifes, well when animals can build hospitals of their own or bridges or industrial towns etc, then talk to me ,
