The only answer possible, considering the way you've posed the question, is yes, if you're an animal-rights advocate and you both eat animals and believe humans are meant to eat them, then you're a hypocrite by definition. You can be an animal-welfare advocate and still eat animals, but if you're a rights advocate it's not possible to eat animal flesh without inviting the charge of hypocrisy. I think you've just misunderstood your terminology is all.

Nope, I don't think so. As long as you believe that we should look after the animals we eat and slaughter them humanely, you're not doing anything wrong.
References :
Of course it is! You are human after all. Free range and organic is worth looking into. The meat is better quality than factory produced as the animal has been rared like an animal should be. You can still eat meat whilst supporting animal rights. Don't feel so guilty, you should be proud of what you do, keep up the good work.
References :
I agree on wildlife conservation, and I think its dumb to fight for the rights of domestic animals (which some animal rights activists do).

Questionable farming practices is logical because that's how Mad Cow Disease (cows), Bird Flu (chickens) and now Swine Flu (pigs) was created.

Humans were vegetarians before the ice age. Guess the domestic animals are finally having their revenge upon us for chopping them up and eating so many of them, lol XD
References :
So long as what your doing is in accordance with your own personal beliefs, and makes sence to you, your not a hypocrite.Especially as views vary so much on these things.Noone can dictate what another persons choices should be,and if you chose to be a vegatarian because of other peoples opinions, and it wasint what you honestly believed was right, then the decision wouldint mean anything.
References :
That's a good question. I heard the quote "you can't be a meat-eating environmentalist." I think there's a lot of truth to that. I'm an animal activist myself, but I'm also not a vegetarian. I've cut down a lot from meat, though, and I only eat meat when I know it's organic and free range. I think in a way you can still be an animal right activist but not a vegetarian, but it's a tough call.
