I am looking to join an Animal Rights group via the internet, but do not know where to go and who to join. I would like to talk and discuss animal rights matters with people my age and older around the united states and the world (Am currently 16 years old.)
I was thinking of PETA but I don;t know if I can become a vegetarian so easily in my family since I have to eat whats given to me, and I believe that animals should be owned by humans like dogs, cats etc
Any info on this matter would be appreciated, thanks =D

You can be your own animal rights group. Study up on the subject. Learn about meat production practices and what you can do to minimize it. You might have to eat what you get now, but you can be prepared to eat as you want when you’re on your own. Education is the most important thing right now.
I’m not a total vegetarian as my husband isn’t. But we minimal meat, never buy beef, and stick to properly raised meats. You need to learn NOW how to eat properly as a vegetarian. It takes some study.
You can also pull your weight by volunteering at animal shelters. They always are looking for help! You’ll meet like minded people there too. If that’s not possible, I turn back to educating yourself. The internet is a buffet of information.
Learn about how to healthily eat vegetarian. Learn how to cook. Start learning about animal medcine in case you ever need to give aid. Learning how to make yourself strong with knowledge is so often ignored. You’re your own powerhouse. Feed it.
PETA does more harm than good. They make animal lovers and rights persons look like nutcases. That doesn’t win people over, it just alienates them. They just spout on and on about extreme things, but never about what common people can do on a small scale.
You can teach yourself. You can help lost animals at shelters. You can study up on animal health. You can learn nutrition. If you learn these things and do these things you can arm yourself for the real fight. Not just some picture in a magazine.
Blessed be and hope you join the quiet ranks.

You may find ASPCA to be more reasonable than the extreme PETA. Check it out:

Also your local animal shelter can use some volunteer help too.
